What do the bulk bags weigh?
Our bulk bags are not sold by weight but are approximately 900kg each.
Can the salt be used in dishwashers, as water softener, or in baths?
No, our salt is intended for de-icing purposes only. Unlike salt used in dishwashers, water softeners, or baths, de-icing salt may contain impurities and additives that make it unsuitable for those applications.
Do you have a minimum order?
Yes, our minimum order quantities are as follows:10 bags for large packs, 25 bags for 10kg bags, one bag for bulk bags, one bin for grit bins, and either 8 cans or one IBC for liquid brine.
What do the large packs weigh?
These are not sold by weight, but each large pack weights approximately 23.5 kg.
Is the salt edible?
No, it is intended for de-icing purposes only. De-icing salt contains chemical additives and impurities, including an anti-caking agent, which make it unsafe to eat.
It is important not to consume it under any circumstances.
Is de-icing salt safe?
Both rock and white salt are unlikely to cause harmful effects under normal conditions of handling and use.
How do I use the salt?
Ideally, we recommend using our salt to prevent the build-up of snow and ice. If cold weather is forecast, spread the salt evenly over the area that you want to keep ice free. If necessary, the salt can also be applied directly on top of snow and ice to melt it.
This can be done manually (scattering the salt by hand or using a shovel), using a salt spreader, or with a gritting truck for larger applications.
The amount of product required will depend on the weather conditions. If you are only trying to prevent ice, then 10-15 grams per square metre is usually sufficient. However, it is best to increase the amount to 20-30 grams per square metre if snowfall is also expected.
Make sure to reapply any de-icing products as needed and regularly inspect high-traffic or shaded areas for signs of freezing, as these spots are more prone to ice formation.

How should I store the salt?
We recommend storing your salt in a grit bin as they offer watertight storage, keeping it moisture-free. This is important as storing it in damp conditions can result in clumping, making it harder to apply and less effective over time.
Alternatively, if a grit bin is not an option, the salt should be stored in a covered, dry area away from direct sunlight.

What is the difference between rock and white salt?
Rock salt is mined from underground, while white salt is harvested by evaporating seawater. Because of this, white salt contains fewer impurities, making it a great choice for areas with heavy foot traffic in and out of buildings. For example, it is ideal for luxury restaurants, schools, or office buildings, as it does not leave brown residue that could stain floors. However, white salt is more expensive than rock salt.
Rock salt, also known as grit salt, does leave a slight brown residue but is a cost-effective option for areas where this is not a concern. It is commonly used on driveways, roads, and car parks.
